really liking this build thread and pleased to see its all going well with the work adam,,,,,,, and 2,0 bar    haha ive been in some fast evos, skylines, supras bla bla but yours i can only imagine how savage it is, and i agree with cambelts ive done one once before on a single cam diesel engine and that i found frustrating enough but apparently twin cams are alot harder. Adam once you got on the road you should do a video for us all to drawl and dribble over  :p

Cambelts are a doddble really, Luke, it makes it so much easier having two people do it though. Someone can line the crank up while you get the cams set, then crank the engine a few times to make sure you've got it set with no resistance.

I always meant to get a video of the S15 with the GT3082R top mount setup, as that sounded like nothing I've heard before, just absolutley rediculous! I miss the noise that car made with that turbo, it was obscenely loud and the compressor surge sounded like a huge powered Supra. I promise I'll do video footage of the Evo though :D

ooh would of liked to see that video of the s15 and cant wait to see the evo video  thats a really mad car mate fair play and bloody hell what you doing up now thought it was only said people like me that were on here now lol, the cambelt i did i hat to do on my own and had never done one before but it made it a bit easier for me when i did a pump change on a (cheap) diesel van, like you say spin to there's no resistance then away you go, i wouldn't attempt this on a car like mine because if i did get it wrong

yes evo vid!!! Ha ha
Wish you had one of the 15 too though that thing was a beast too.
It's just making me want to do something mental with mine now ha ha think I'm gonna have to get saving !!!
I do fancy stripping my engine down and rebuilding it, I'm gonna have to read up on it I think as it is definitely something I don't really want to pay to have done !
Do you have a rough idea when she will be back on the road??

I don't get much time to work on the car through the week because of the hours I do, I'd normally do bits and bobs after work but with the poor lighting above our ramp it makes it very difficult to see things once its dark. It'll be running by Saturday at the latest though, I'm going to run it round at low boost for s couple of days to make sure things are ok then get it mapped.

I filled the engine up with the cam cover off as the cams looked almost bone dry from the weekend, coolant filled up and got as much air out as I could. Cranked engine by hand with oil in, then cranked it over with the key to prime the turbo....

It started first turn and runs lovely, it gets really lumpy once its warm and sounds awesome :D. Ran t up to run cams in for 20 minutes or so and check for leaks. No oil leaks but have a small water leak, so that's a small job for the weekend. Well chuffed its finally running and cheers for the pleasant comments from everyone :)

Yeah, I know where it's coming from, it's the thermostat housing on the side of the head. I did think it may not have sealed well as it was a **** to get on. It's not a big job, so I'm pleased that's all that appeared to be leaking, considering I stripped nearly the whole engine down.

I've been trying to get the car mapped since Sunday but I can't seem to get hold of the chap, think he's away on holiday. I've got to change the oil and filter again after doing a few miles with the cams. I've racked up 140 miles in 6 days :wack:. I'm only running it at low boost and its spinning all 4 wheels in the damp in 2nd gear :D. I'm going to lower it this weekend probably too as the front height is almost comical.

Awesome news man, hopefully get it mapped soon then you can just enjoy it! Is a weird sensation all wheels spinning! My mate had an evo 6 that's running 600 odd bhp and he took me out in the rain and was spinning up in 4th gear ha ha mental but good fun !!! Looking forward to seeing your results when is all mapped, been hard work but is defo gonna be worth it mate!!!!

Yeah, I'm getting really impatient about getting it mapped, lol. It sounds bloody awesome on boost aswell, the turbo sounds really odd with the billet wheel in it, the spool up noise and comp surge are totally different. I'm not sure what figures it'll be making as we're road mapping it but I've had a pal offer me to use his dyno to see what power its producing after.
