So there is a light patch missing -

I am tempted to order a few more cans and do it just because it bugs me..and tbh I would like 2 coats minimum especially in the arches! But I still have Dynax UB to put on also so might just leave it

Bits are going off to get powder coated and plated tomorrow so I got them ready -

Subframe brace had to be rubbed down a bit -

After a clean up wire wire brushes etc the parts were put to soak in some Deox C solution to get them ready for tomorrow! Reason i did this was because it may bring the cost down slightly if its less work for them to do...I am gonna request everything be sand blasted anyway if possible at the powder coaters and the platers im using (different to you Craig) will very likley clean them up again anyway so im sure they will be fine.

Not much left now really

Just waiting for bushes and brake lines to turn up! HEL suck!

Haven’t updated this in a bit...

Right the underside is now done, after the stone chip I applied 2 generous coats of Dynax UB which is an anti-corrosion wax with elastic polymers that create a tougher wax coating that is more resistant to abrasion than normal wax coatings.

After 2 coats I’m pleased with the results, if I find any rust under here in the next 3-5 years I’ll give my car a makeover with a hammer!

Cleaned the shafts up the best I could and painted -

Fuel tank straps cleaned up and painted -

Diff painted with 3 coats, which will then be sprayed with another few coats of black -

Prop -

This will also be done black..

Got parts back from powder coating / plating

Tbh the finish isn’t the best, don’t get me wrong its good but in a few places on the carriers for instance it could be better. The sub frame should of been blasted back first but they didn’t do that..but I paid £40.00 for the plating and £50.00 for the powder coating which is cheap and cheerful really and its all protected and its not like I’m building a show car... :)

Also after 2 months my brake lines finally turned up!

Now I’m just waiting on the energy bushes, bits painting black and it can all go back together.

The job looks pretty good tbh and as you say it does its job doubt there will be many people scrutinising the underside of your car anyways
Good work
Keep it up!

Amazing work! You've certainly spent a lot of time under that car. :)
Just make sure you actually drive it now, and don't just sell up.
When do you think you will have it all back together?

Yep!

I’ve spent so much time lying underneath the car it sort of feels like home when I’m under there haha :D

Oh I will use it dont worry! Next on the list is decent wheels, HSD's and some alignment products so I can have some fun! I dont plan to ever sell up really, ive always wanted and S15 and there will always be new stuff I can do and I cant see myself getting bored any time soon..

And now you have the perfect base to work from too, knowing everything is rust free and good to go.
If I get my house sorted this year I will be doing this over the winter, mine has been undersealed but there are still bits I am not happy with under there you guys are an inspiration and because you have been documenting it all gives a decent step by step guide to follow

you will put the exhaust back on and it will look really bad compared with the rest of the underside, or have you done something with that?

Ive got wire wool and some autosol metal polish to make the exhaust look a bit better.

TBH there is going to be things that let it down anyway, I mean I havent bothered getting new discs or refurbing the calipers so they will look crap, and im sure a few other bits will let me down.

Im only doing all this for piece of mind anyway so I know its not going to fall apart in a few years. In time ill get nice new brakes and coilovers and even a new exhaust at some point, but for now im just glad its rust free
