Busy at work and on holiday in Florida at the mo, so progress has been slow.

Brakes are a little way off at present as I'm still waiting to find out if I'm moving the car to the US or not.

But I have been buying VE head goodies, will post them up soon.

Proper updates next month.

Neo vvl - p11 cylinder head :)

After a long time waiting to find a P11 SR20VE VVL Head I finally have it.....

I'd posted earlier in the year that i'd bought one, but the engine importers that accepted my money never came through with the head, so cancelled order and onto the search.

I found a guy selling the head minus the valves and cams but with all the ancilliaries for a realy good price, which was perfect for me as i'm changing the valves, valve guides, valve stem seals and cams.

VVL :)

My other DET head

Comparison between port on DET and VE head (DET on top)
You can really see the difference in the port size, no port and polish on a DET will get close to the flow rate of a VE

All the bits

Now is the start of the machining and metal treatment works which i've been looking forward to.

Machining

Combustion Chambers CNC machines (Fully Spherical) to 90mm
Head resurface
Multi Angle Valve Job
Port and Polish
R&R Valve Guides
1/2" Head Stud Machining

Metal Treatment (WPC)

Combustion Chambers
Valves (after cut)
Cam Caps
Rocker Arms and Roller Shaft
Valve Springs and retainers
Cams

If you've not heard of WPC before check this links, it's used by a lot of the pro race teams and F1 and it's only available in Japan and California (everything that I can have treated on both head and block will be treated along with surface coatings as needed)

Some more pics soon once I get the rest of the valves etc in.

I've seen the difference between the det and vet heads before and its rediculous how well the vet head is designed in comparison. This will be mental when its finished!

Valve Train Start

Cheers guys, I'm hoping so :)

I've decided as well that the turbo model I have on back order with Full Race isn't big enough:rotfl:, so I'm now going to get the model up size wise which is the EFR 8374 T4 1.04 A/R, no WG...

Should have it by Christmas and the head should also be complete by then as well.

A few picks on valve train, short a few exhaust valves but their in the post.

Valve Stem Seals (Supertech)

Valve Guides (Manganese bronze)

Valves (intake 1mm oversize (stainless steel), exhaust 2mm oversize (Inconel))

Thanks,

My initial project definately got it's start after reading R4Race build thread on Zilvia, Imarvin is also doing a nice build on Zilvia as well, my project will be a bit different from these as i'm pushing the spec of the engine build a bit further with as much metal treatments and coatings as I can.

With the time on the build which I have I want to go the Cyrogenic hardening route for many of the parts and WPC and Coatings route for all the applicable parts. Should be an interesting spec once it's complete, It adds a lot to the cost not just for the treatments/coatings but also for the shipping as I need to ship the head and block all over the place at each stage to get work done, but hopefully it will be worth it.

By the end of the month all the valve train parts will be complete and the heads off to Mazworx, once all the cleaning, machining and polishing are complete, it need dissassembly and then it's shipped to WPC in California for all the metal treatments and then back to me. Then I can start on the block :)

I really wanted to get the valve seats replaced with Beryllium copper seats which are usualy reserved for titanium valve installs, but I know that Naprec has fitted these seats to Under Suzuki's P12 head and have used stainless/inconel valves, depending on which BeCU seats are used they will either be hard or soft and soft is no good for non-titanium valves. I've discussed this with Mazworx and they haven't had good results with BeCU seats (probably using the Tomei berryrings) but Naprec have? So i'm still debating whether to get the head done at Mazworx or ship the head to Naprec in Japan? Decisions, decisions.... lol

Anyway something will happen this month...

More Parts again

Just received the 2nd Tomei Cam Gear (two needed for VE head) and the rest of the valve guides.

Plus the HKS FCon V-Pro harness for my HKS Camp 2 and the Camp 2 Consult cable harness. My Fcon VPro and Camp2 have been sitting in a box for 18months now :( But these are the last parts to get the Fcon and Camp 2 full operational.

I'm just posting with the same input as before. I love how you're going all out on this build, I really wish I had the determination you have as I literally can't keep dedication to such a withheld accumulation of parts. I really tried with the S15 but gave up, just before the engine build aswell. I really hope you don't do the same :)

Cheers mate, with me being in the US and my car in the UK the plan is working out well, might be a different story when I'm back home but so far so good.

Got a call today that my Rocker Cover and Water swirl pot have had all the AN fittings welded on, so pick them up Saturday and then straight to the powder coaters (pics to follow)

Also the cam caps, roller shafts and rockers arms are all being measured up for the WPC treatment, so hopefully they will get sent off in the next couple of weeks as well. Slowly but surely it's getting there.

My main objective is to get the engine built before I come home and that's on track... UK Time attack 2014 here I come :)

VVL Cover and Swirl Pot (AN Fittings)

Just picked up the rocker cover and swirl pot from the fabricators, not bad welds but could be cleaner, but these are both going to powder coat so should look at lot better afterwards.

Rocker Cover
AN10 on all three vent ports

Swirl Pot
AN8 on drain
AN6 on inlets
AN4 cap vent

Hopefully some nicer pics after powder coat...

Ok, letters removed except for the VVL.

Was considering white, but then everything is white, want some contrast really. Might go for color on the rocker cover and then white on all the tanks, swirl pots etc. erm, decisions....

Like the violet as well, also like the candy orange and the green, Red, blue, hahahahah....

I Reckon purple on white will look awesome dude!
all white would be a bit much and purple would definitely contrast nicely, saying that anything will look good against the white...
Love all kandy colours tbh

does the vvl have raised lettering ? Could do the bade white with the shadow parts of the letters to match the rocker colour...

ok, going to get the raised letters ground down (pier pressure from Adam and Chris, lol)

Translucent Grape for the rocker, the VVL plaque which is a raised plaque and the lettering is fractionaly raised also will be in pearl white and the letters for the VVL again in grape and the whole lot cleared.

The swirl pot will be pearl white with clear. Next weekend it's going to the coaters, so will see if i've balls'd it up a few days later, lol...
