Looks like it just came off the production line mate, really nice work

Now you have done that a simple car clean will turn into cleaning all that each time :)

Look foward to seeing it...

:DSHE'S BACK ON THE ROAD:D

finally after six months of graft i started her up this afternoon and the thing fired up like i'd only used it yesterday :) coolant system pretty much bled itself which was handy, brakes seem to be air free but could doo with bedding in, the k-sports bring the abs in quite easily so i'll have to get used to them, also removing the rear restrictor seems to have helped apply a bit more force on the rears as the car isn't nose diving as i expected it to.....

left the car to reach around 90 degrees to see the fan kick in which it did, obviously being sat on the spot on a fairly warm day the fan kept kicking in after every five minutes and bringing it down a few degrees so thats ok. also the exhaust manifold smoked a little whilst all the dust and stonechip particles all burned off....

with poly bushes all round, pretty hardcore coilovers and all my bracing fitted it seems the chassis is stiffer than ever, reversing over the slope on my drive means the car is on a tilt and i lose traction on the passenger rear as it starts to leave the ground  there are no leaks apart from the same minor oil leak i've always had and not losing any fluids. all electrical systems a.o.k and seems to be driving straight and true prior to alignment - even boosted it up the road and it felt great.

it's so good to be back in a real car, even if it is only for a few days until it gets the bodywork sorted. anyway here's the pics. thanks for following the thread, it's been a fairly long project as i never intended to do as much as i ended up doing, but once i got so far in i realised i didn't wan't to be doing it again :)

and back she goes for now - got to be taxed to cancel the sorn :) scaffold board next to the car is how i get in and out of the garage now, stops the bottom of the front bumper hitting the slope on the way out of there.

only things left to sort are fix the wiring for the handbrake dash indication, wire a back up switch for the twin fans for hot summer days and look into shifting the brake lines a little in the rear arches as there would be a possibilty of the camber arms catching them if the suspension bottomed out for any reason.....

This looks sweet mate, looking forward to seeing this all painted. Inspirational to all.. I only wish I was going to Japfest to see all these cars in the flesh, the only time in my life I wish I wasn't going on holiday.

thanks for the comments guys :)

had a drive down to see the painter today and he really doesn't want to paint my whole car, he said it would be a shame. so in the end came to a compromise -he's going to get enough paint to do the whole car but only paint the kit and parts that need tidying. once thats done, if the rest really bothers me then i'll have the whole car done at a later date.

Fair play Dean. Car looks great.
Would be a shame to paint the whole car, as the rest looks so tidy, just hope the colour match is good enough.

progress :)

car is still with the painter - he's in the middle of lots of work at the moment so things have been a bit slow...

quick test fit of the new lights

taking it back to metal where it's needed and finding every little dint and imperfection

and heres what a pro can do with his own car for next to nothing - very jealous of his soon to be fully restored sierra cosworth :)

cheers - hope so :) it's really sad to see it like this as some of the panels on the car were mint but are being taken back anyway, but hopefully the result of all that will be no imperfections at all... fingers crossed
