Yeah, HPI modify the Nismo box as the HPI is rated to 430ps and 490nm where the Nismo box is only good for 350ps and 392nm. Don't know what they do to it but it works!!!

I think all they do is increase the strength of the input shaft.

This information will assist with any assumptions about the box. The circlip issue is not a problem because of the closer gear ratios and the reduction of teeth in other gears.

Personally I think the HPI is over priced for what is still basically a Nismo 6 speed.

Holding up well!! Done three track days this year, one of which was a drift day Have done around 4k since fitting it. Can't really tell any difference from the old to new So well happy!!

I'm picking mine up next weekend. If you have to wait for your own box to be re-furbed, it is not a quick process! I dropped mine off in late Jan and am only about to pick up now. I still think it is very good value though considering a better life 6speed, lightweight box. Only time will tell how long they will last.

I'm so glad that this has found its way onto the forum! I started planning this with Julian at GarageD a couple of years ago, and it took a long time for the fix to be developed and tested. as far as I know, the first box tested was run on a 500bhp + Drift competition car without much incident. Its good to see that a few of you are now using these uprated boxes! Mine is still working very well with 450bhp + and a Exeedy Double plate. So Glad I persevered with this as Julian was the only person I spoke to that was willing to even consider looking in to this! So a big thank you to him for doing this! I like the sound of this too, what have they actually changed in the box? One of the actual toothed gears? How did they fit the solid ring instead of a circlip?

Sounds like a bargain though mate, if they are quite helpful then pics would be amazing of what the gearbox specialists actual did. And also who are the box specialists? Because I hate the word "specialists" it just reminds me of Ali g!

I´ve sent my damaged countershaft to garageD in january this year to see what they can do for me.
Reverse gear was damaged to much for doing the circlip mod so they gave my shaft to a machine shop.

It´s now mid of may and I´m still waiting for something to happen.

Just to let you guys know... better ship a gearbox in full working order to them.

My box is still standing up to the strain. It is a little whiney but Garage-D say that is normal. I've only done a few miles as I only really use it at weekends but I abuse that thing badly! I'm running 310bhp (I think) and an ORC paddle clutch.

Took me 2 and a half years to get it back, but it was my gearbox that they used for the design and development of it!

Now that Quaife aren't busy on their other project I would think the turn around would be quite quick. Talk to Julian or Daragh.
