craig,

just a quick question. Would it be possible to have my cooling panel produced without the hole for the bonnet catch cut out?

Yes, but there would be 2 options for you. One cheap and one.. not so cheap!..

- Simply have the panel with the holes not cut, but it wouldn't look too neat as you'll see the outline and it'll be quite bumpy. You could build up the areas with resin and keep flatting/polishing them until it comes good, but it'd be difficult to get it nice.

- Have it done properly by doing the following on a donor panel - fill/smooth the hole where the catch mechanism comes through and fill the dip/hole that the operating lever comes through. Then make a new mould, and produce a panel from it. It would cost a lot to do it that way though mate.

ah not to worry, thought it might have been just a matter of not cutting the hole out but obviously not.

When the panel is made, the parts that need to be cut out are rough and slightly sunken into the coating so it's obvious where to cut. As your only down the road I'll show you one that hasn't been cut (when I have one) so you can see what I mean and decide what to do. It'd be a shame to have the holes if you don't have a bonnet catch :)

Yeah, can do fiberglass instead of CF for you, no probs. What do you plan to do to it??

It will have a shiny black resin gel coat - thats how it will come out of the mould. You can flat it down and do what you want with it though :)

some kind of carbon kevlar stuff, but with the yellow kevlar fiber (will defo attract italian police interest and consequent bill) painted in black or another colour...but it's gone

p.s. you may think what's different between carbon and carbon kevlar? actually nothing, it's just a finish, but italian cops are used to carbon stickers on ahestetically-****ty tuned italian cars, but they are not with carbon kevlar, wich they consider like some kind of racing stuff, and so, not legal... :(

I'll be doing some in carbon kevalr too once the CF ones are finished. There is a difference between the 2 materials - kevlar is a lot stronger than CF and much better at absorbing impact damage. :)

If you can craig this would be great.

I only need the hole for the hook in the hood.
The hood lock is removed´cause I installed aerocatch locks.

OK, no probs. It may look a bit rough where the lever should be, but better than a hole with nothing in it :) If you don't like it you could always trim it out at a later date.

Same boat as you mate, as craig has pointed out above the hole for the bonnet catch can be left uncut althought the finish around this area may be a bit rough. The hook on the hood would require grinding off i would assume
