Was any of this rust visible from the outside before this work started? It makes me scared to find out what's going on under the paint on mine
There was definitely surface rust underneath and some discoloration happening around the strut tower panels . The guy doing the work told me the sills and engine bay almost always end up hiding something .
The C-pillar did really surprise me as there was only a small 3mm hole visible on the panel .
I daily drove my car for 7 years no matter the season or weather so rust was going to happen sooner or later .

Last update from HTDevelopments before Christmas . The metal work is nearly done, there is only the driver side rear rail to put back on the car and check behind the last quarter panel to make sure no rust is left .

The rear arch lip has been removed and replaced by a rod . This will free some space for my rear new wheels while keeping a clean look as well as getting rid of the panels overlap where rust starts .

New update from HTDevelopments . The driver quarter panel was removed . We were expecting it to be the cleaner side, unfortunately there was quite a lot of rust hiding there as well .

Now all the rust and welding has been dealt with, the guys at HTDevelopments started prepping the underfloor . Hopefully it's all smooth sailing from now on .

How long has the car been with HTD now? This work is unreal
They started on the car around mid-June last year, they have been working on it on and off until last February, since then it's been stored and waiting for paint .
HTD could have done it quicker but there was a lot more work than originally expected and the work had to slow down so I could manage the budget a bit easier .

Can I DM you to talk in more detail about the financial side of this? I'm keen to weigh up a project like this on mine since I know it will need doing

Plenty has happened in the last few month . The car goes to paint in August, the engine bay is getting the last few touches and sealer before .

In the meantime I got the once in a lifetime opportunity to work in Japan for 2 years . One thing leading to another, I now own a chaser at Ebisu 😅 .

While the car is waiting for painting the guys at HTDevelopments focused on cleaning the various parts that will go back onto the shell .

The engine is also getting some love . Some valve were found to be a little leaky, the exhaust manifold and turbo were a bit loose . Now my goal is to get the engine to 200k miles (currently seat around 150k IIRC) .
