Hey guys, anyone know anything about Nismo steering rack? Is it a worthy upgrade for EXTRA GOOD steering response?? :)
What about turning circle?
Last time when i upgraded my EK with a complete Type-r crossmember and steering rack and super HUGE ARB, the steering feel was completely different. It was SUPERB. Handling was SUPERB. In fact my civic had better handling then my S15

Any ideas on the price?

Arun,

I tried searching for the Nismo steering rack for s15 and came up with only the steering rack bushes.
Did you mean the Nismo power brace ?

If you're talking about the power brace. I got it a few months back for less than rm500 new.
Not sure whether it would help at all in the steering/handling of the car. I bought it because it looks good.

If you want better handling, you should change all your arms/links to Ikeya Formula.
Check it out here --> http://www.ikeya-f.co.jp/en/product_notice/foot_works.html
The complete set from Ikeya Formula for an S15 would be around RM 12,000.
Mist from drift.com.my, is the only person I know in Malaysia to have the complete set.

I'll be getting the Cusco anti roll bars, and the Cusco tension rod to complement my
Cusco caster rod, Cusco rear camber arm and Uras Tie-rod. Will let you know how it goes.
I still haven't tried out my 'new' KTS coilovers yet. Will get to very very soon. *evil grin*

Hmmmmm, i think i made a mistake. there are only Nismo bushings and no steering rack.
I think i already have that nismo piece under my car. My car came with nismo undercarriage and the cusco ARBs.

As for the Ikeya stuff... i think 12k is a ridiculous price lor...
for some simple iron rods here and there.. gotta pay so much huh.... tats daylight robbery lor...
gotta find alternatives. =)

What coilovers are you running at the moment ?
Can you give me some feedback about the Cusco ARBs ?

yeah I do agree that RM 12k is a lot of money.
I think you should get things bit by bit.
Start with castor rods and tie-rod + tie-rod ends.
They are the 2 easiest things that needs to be changed.
I've changed my tie-rod ends twice already. Malaysian roads. *sigh*
So by putting in aftermarket ones, they'll last longer.

^^^ The world's highest S15 (from the ground) !

Don't need to feel paiseh owning a 180 man. I always wanted one.
In fact I nearly bought one a few months back. They're nice.
When my car is ready, I'm gonna bring a few 180s and an S14 along with me for our TT.
A group of us; Under5ive boys. hehe.

The more the merrier man, as long as the group is not TOO big till
we start having politics, sitting different tables, etc.

i'm afraid that there isn't a "nismo steering rack" in nismo's catalogue list but maybe you are looking at a "nismo steering gear mount bush" as mentioned or a "nismo solid steering shaft" which i don't know whether it is still in production or not (cost just under ~rm1k mark). the said "nismo solid steering shaft" had the lower shaft link joint (or damper? as described by nismo) removed and replaced with a solid body shaft. it is meant for drift/track/competition usage and hence the airbag may not function well with the installation of it.

the nismo power brace 2 is pretty good stuff in the sense that the center rod holds together and strengthens the tension rod bracket, spreading the stress evenly during extreme driving conditions.

i reckon there is no need for a full set of ikeya formula suspension parts to be installed. its pretty harsh on ride comfort if everything is installed. plus, the added undercarriage weight ain't healthy too (the full kit is much heavier compared to the stock link arms).

i have listed here 2 other alternatives ideas for the suspension link upgrade path if you are interested:

1. cheapest way is to change everything to the hardened nismo suspension bush (or complete nismo suspension link). do take note that the nismo suspension link package is stock suspension link + nismo bush + nismo logo & silver paint only. nothing fancy here and overpriced. its not adjustable too...

2. a better price x performance way is to get yourself a adjustable pillow ball/rose joint (or whatever you like to call it...) tension rod/front lower arm + rear toe adjuster arm + rear camber arm together with the hardened bush/nismo links for other unchanged suspension links. this way you get the flexibility to adjust the almost all suspension settings without compromising much on daily drivability. its cheaper by almost 5-6k compared to the full ikeya kit. throw in an extra tie-rod & tie rod end and you get extra angle for your difting fun too~~

well, just my many 1 cents stacking up...:D
