I'll give you some numbers which may change your mind.

31% income tax (for low paying jobs. If you make more, you get higher percentage)
25% VAT
Gasoline price about ?0.8 a litre for 98 octan (very cheap by swedish standards as there is a gasoline war between different brands)

I think they have removed the gift tax.
But if you have a fortune over a specific amount. You pay a special fortune tax for that every year

Your pay packet must reflect the higher cost of living though. I have visited a few times, my Uncle designs suspension parts for Volvo (although has just quit) so have been over to stay with him.

95RON is 87p/litre average
Optimax is 95p/litre average.

Tax is 25% VAT 17.5%. However, we have a dozen other 'stealth' taxes to fleece us elsewhere.

We also have things like fuel duty (a tax) on which we pay VAT. Therefore, we get tax on a tax. This happens for car import taxes too (and various other things).

Ha ha. We got the tax on tax thing to.
First there is fuel cost, and then energy tax and then a special CO2 tax and on all that there is 25% VAT

I don't know much about taxes. I just pay'em and hope that they'll go away

My biggest question is where all that money goes to

Oh yeah, we just spent ?2 700 000 on a road-tax system around stockholm who nobody wants, And another big amount of money on a state of the art railroad-track to northern Sweden where almost nobody lives or work :rant:
