I FINALLY got my oil filter relocation kit on today!

Problems with the thread and length of the central nozzle on the block adapter meant it had to be re-threaded and shortened. Fitment was attempted between each modification So, as you can imagine, I'm relieved to finally get the fecker on! Thanks to Bren at Apex Performance for following through getting it sorted. :thumbs: :notworthy:

Looking good i bet they make life alot easyer when doing an oil change, did a oil change on my s14 last week and what a pain in the arse

Mine was a 'universal' kit and it turned out to not be what it should have been.

You can get them through Apex (ordered in). Think the S14 one is ?135. I got mine for a clearance price though....

The bastard is attaching the adapter plate to the block. My advice would be to buy a socket long enough to go over the nozzle. As you can see, its slightly non-standard...

There is zero room to tighten it up. The rest is OK. Cutting the braided hoses in a pain, but not too bad. You need to initially attach the block adapter from underneath and tighten a braided hose from underneath.

You oughta see where they put the filter in my Clio 172... ridiculous, you just can't get to it. Had to change the oil/filter on the missus' MR2 Roadster yesterday too - that wasn't much better.

Its easier after the first oil change. The first one though...

The plate fits over the existing oil filter mount.

A warning to all people running this though.

DO NOT USE THE STOCK S15 OIL FILTER ON THIS KIT!!

I did.
and last friday it popped off, spraying my new Motul 300V oil all over the engine bay.
No harm done to the engine though. It happened in the garage and my oil pressure gauge warned me in time.

I removed my filter adaptor and took it with me to a place and got a suiting oil filter.
You're supposed to run a Corolla AE86 filter. But that filter isnt the easiest one to get hold of.

So don't run the stock filter. If the oil pressure gets to high, it might fly off.
Leaving you with a very "interesting" cleaning job and maybe a blown engine if not noticed in time.

Other then that. The kit is OK. Makes oil filter changes fun

OK, further to this. You specifically need a filter with an anti-drainback valve to avoid dry starts. K & N oil fiters all have this.

The stock filter I had seemed to fit. But it wasn't a tight fit. The filter jiggled a bit when it wasn't fully tightened.

The new filter jiggles to. But not as much by far.

I used the Nissan filter for about 250kms and it worked fine. But then at the garage it just let go. So make sure that the filter is attached good.

You sure it wasn't ann S13 filter? Was it a Nissan original?

A guy on SXOC has been running an Nissan original on the same kit for months...

It had that part number from the Service manual. But was a Mahle one and not Nissan. But the thread on it should be the same.
I first thought that the filter should be OK. Because it seemed to be stuck. When I tried to reattach the filter after it had popped off. It wouldn't tighten anymore. So I think it just barely holds on and when the oil pressure gets to high (peaked over 10bar at the time) it could pop off.

I won't run Nissan S15 filter again on this kit. After seeing what it could do.
