S15 Hatch lever won't open the trunk unless you have a friend with you to open the trunk while you pull the lever.

Hi guys! not sure if anyone's done a write up on this yet, but am needing some urgent help!

My boot/trunk hatch opens the trunk ONLY if you have a friend with you or something to jam in between the lever to keep it up. I can hear it unlock but as soon as I let the lever go it locks right up afterwards. This only recently started happening so not sure what started to go wrong?

Sounds like you just need to adjust the mechanism. Must have gotten misaligned somehow.
