So what have you got planned for the engine then? I think I read that you didnt want to do anything power wise for a bit to see how it got on?

Fair play, thats a good idea! But have you thought about getting a few things that will improve reliability on track etc seing as its going to be thrashed?

Get yourself a Greddy or similar sump extension to eliminate possible surge on those long sweeping bends!

Might be worth removing oil and water pump aswell to check condition?

Do you think it will be ready for this summer? Take it your gonna get yourself a trailer to tow it everywhere?

Engine wise nothing mental... the plan is to initially use Jez's Horsham Stage 1a chip which will get her up to around 280-290bhp @ 1.1 bar. Then after 12 months after ensuring everything is running well, I'll move onto an uprated GT2871 with all the usual mods to support this. I'd be happy with a final figure of around 380 bhp so it doesn't blow up the gearbox :wack: This will be more than enough for having fun out on track but without reliability issues!

Yeah a baffled sump will be on the list at some point... don't believe I need to go as far as dry sump plus swirl pot as this is mainly for high bhp applications.

She'll deffo be ready for summer... I'm hoping to get her up and running by middle of Feb... most of the bits are now bolt on since all the wiring is sorted and oil cooler is finally installed with proper brackets

No trailer as I can't afford this and won't have room to put the trailer anywhere... so as intended originally, she'll be MOT'd as soon as she's up and running and will be driven to/from every event :wave:

Carbon centre console with provisional switches all fitted...

Coolant line connected since heater matrix was removed ages ago lol...

Some custom bracket fabrication for the ignition amp plus Gizzmo boost solenoid...

Some bling to go on the car at last...

My work bench *ahem* the garage floor...

Decided to freshen things up a bit and paint the fan shroud in satin black...

Boost gauge sender unit fitted against the fusebox...

Dropped the gearbox to install the short shifter...

Japspeed short shifter voila!

Since I had to drop the box to fit the new shifter would have been rude not to have fitted the uprated box mount at the same time hehe...

Finally - all bolt on bits and pieces in the engine bay sorted!

T minus a few days before I get to fire her up :thumbs:

*Update!!


After a couple of weeks unable to start the car and faffing with all sorts, got the 14a trailered to my mate's garage who's a whizz on SR's and he got to the bottom of the problem pretty quick... turns out the two black fuel hoses that run into the plenum (one which has the fuel filter) were installed the wrong way round??!! :wack: I never touched these so it must have been the previous owner who cocked this up and with a low amount of fuel in the tank plus the fact the car hadn't been started for months meant time wasted grrr However I am grateful it was only a simple fix and she's now starting up perfectly fine - thanks to Josh @ Neils Autos :thumbs:


So past few days has been wiring, wiring and more wiring!!!


Rear fog light switch install...

MOT requires that the rear fog light switch illuminates...

Needed to wire in boost controller plus gauges using ignition 12V and illumination 12V - cue cigarette lighter connector wires...

Orange wire = ignition 12V, red wire = illumination 12V...

Definitely getting the hang of soldering...

A few 5A in-line fuses for various installs which need constant 12V from battery...

Boost controller relay tucked away nicely...

All custom carbon centre panels installed - top = boost controller, middle = kill switch, bottom = switches...

Testing gauges and boost controller - they work!

Next task is to wire in the gauges properly and stick them on the dash Then finally, I can get the seats in!! :wack:
