Yeah, i just dont ask any questions when my car passes MOT without a cat

I do think those mid silencers must act as quite a restriction, the pipe entry and exit on my silencer werent adjacent to each other so there must have been some kind of kink inside. Exhaust sounds more hollow and raspy now at low revs, bit like a skyline but still has the farting top end sound of the SR.

Sorry to bump an old thread.

I was thinking the exact same mod, as ive been bashing my resonator over speed humps. I love the quiet idle of my exhaust, just wanted to clarify, how much louder does the exhaust note become after removing the resonator?

Doesnt really change much noise wise as far as I could tell a little if any, both HKS Hi Power Cat Back systems on my S15 and my S14 have had the Silencer removed

You can hear the tone of the engine more with the silencer removed. And it's louder

just removed resonator, sounds excellent now, not much louder on high RPM.

Just to add to the thread, I removed my resonator as it began to rattle after been bashed against speed humps.

The car isn't louder at all! It still has the same characteristics that made me buy the HKS hi power silent in the first place

a 2" restrictor just before the muffler is the reason it wont get much louder
