Hi all,

Just like to introduce myself to the forum. I recently imported a 2002 S15 Spec-R from JM-Imports in Newcastle... as my very first car . I've always wanted one and after how bad 2020 was, I thought eh why not.

This is it on the day I went to collect it, helpfully parked right next to a McLaren. It needs a little bit of work (don't they all at this point) but more than happy to put time and money into it, and just can't stop looking at it to be honest!

looks nice, the front strut tops looks like its gonna need some work, id tackle that first.

how's the insurance for you ( tbh I'm surprised you've managed to get some)

Yeah that’s one of the things on my list. Small bit of surface rust in the little gap/channel water drains through on the boot lid too that I want sorting before it gets worse.

Insurance wasn’t too bad tbh, probably because of my age (32). £700 a year with Admiral with coilovers and exhaust etc all declared. The cheapest Golf GTI I could get in comparison was £1200 on a black box policy.

That’s very good, some insurance companies insist on a few years RWD experience before giving insurance on a RWD (I know it makes no sense at all)

all I will say and I don’t mean to sound condescending when I say this, be careful they are fairly forgiving which often leads to over confidence, it’s be a shame to see another trashed S body. (First dibs on front bumper )

Haha not at all, I totally get where you’re coming from. I was checking the Japanese auctions for months before finding this one and about 80% were Grade R, and 10% Grade 0 write offs so that in itself paints a picture of what the car is like. I don’t want to jinx it but I’m driving pretty sensibly so far and not even considering driving it on wet roads any time soon!
