Been a member on here since before i got the car (06/11) and always planned on posting a build thread but i've never got round to it. Some of the earlier pictures were taken on my iphone, finally got a proper camera now though!

After traveling 3 hours and witnessing two crashes i finally picked up my blue 1999 s15 Spec R, i drove her home without any problems, and the petrol was better than i had expected too! (haven't got any pictures of the car the day i got it so will post some recent ones instead, although visually she still looks pretty much the same.

As much as i wanted to buy parts for the car straight away budget wouldn't allow, but as soon as payday arrived i ordered a HKS SSQV III out with old, in with the new!

Couldn't have a turbo without the 'tshh!' it took me around an hour to fit although i could probably do it in around 15 minutes if i had to do it again!

Seeing as the lottery numbers hadn't came in yet mods were staying small

Next i decided to get the car RR'd to see how many ponies she had, wasn't expecting much (stock boost)

237.3 WHP @ 6930rpm - 293.2 NM @ 4910rpm (261HP)

234.8 WHP @ 7170rpm - 277.6 NM @ 5160rpm (258HP)

231.6 WHP @ 6590rpm - 278.4 NM @ 5090rpm (255HP)

This was at a supra specialist near me, there were around 40 cars there on the night and it was a JDM vs VAG meet, shame i didn't have my camera! Anyway the deal was that the car that made the highest bhp on their dyno would get to go out for a spin in the owners supra, and it became apparent that none of the scoobies/skylines/evos/supras were too fussed about getting their car on, so as the last car of the night with my only threat being a VW Corrado that made around 220bhp i decided it was worth finding out how the vehicle was performing. Reasonably happy with the results, not really sure if there good or bad for a near on stock spec r?

Seeing as i won though i got to go out in the supra, not before he dyno'd it though, 1102WHP!! i did video it but it was so fast the iphone camera couldn't cope, although here is a video link to some speed testing he did with it on his dyno!

Next thing on the list for the s15 was a service, so i got all the parts i needed and took it up to a mates garage so we could put it up on the ramp and get a proper look under the car. Bit of rust of the roll bars etc, nothing bad, it had previously been under sealed and was it pretty good condition.

Everything had been done bar the engine oil and filter, i opted for Silkolene Pro S seeing as so many people on here recommend it, and a HKS sports oil filter, after the new filter and oil was changed we turned her on, and i about filled my pants as the oil filter shot off! i quickly turned her off, i'd lost quite a bit of oil, i put the car back in the air to get a better look, good news and bad news. The good news was that the car had a HKS Type R Oil Cooler that i was never told about when i bought her, the bad news was that the sandwich plate took a slightly different size filter, only a mm or so but my only option was to put the old one back on. luckily i still had enough oil left to put back in what i'd lost, i topped her up and took her home. I then did a bit of research into what size filter i would need, turned out to be the same as the r33 gtr, so i ordered another filter and another order to Opie for some more Silkolene.

While i was waiting for the oil and filter my Autobahn88 FMIC came i took the front bumper off only to find that i'd been sent the Autobahn88 pipes with a Jperformance core!

About 20 emails and a week or so later i finally received the autobahn88 core, although still to this day they haven't collected the one they originally sent.

The car remained like this for ages then due to it getting dark so soon and only really being able to work on it at weekends, i removed the old HKS hard pipes.

Whilst fitting the cold pipe i noticed this -

The earls fitting of one of the braided hoses from the oil cooler to the sandwich plate was pretty badly worn, and with it needing the oil change anyway this was the perfect chance, as i still needed to drain the cooler.

I fitted the intercooler and tested the old braided hoses to see if they still fit around the cold pipe, as i thought the pipe was in the way.

so i removed the braided hoses to measure them up and order some new goodridge ones with a better fit

Next was the new filter, the new hoses, and the front bumper.

Next issue was the battery, how to tie it down, i looked at a lot of pictures of people using the original battery bar even with the battery turned 90 degrees, but i couldn't work out how so i ordered a black battery tie bar from tegiwa with fitting kit, i opted for the purple washers, this was so fiddly to fit! i also found a repair job on one of the earth cables.

So i ordered a HKS circle earth kit in time for the following weekend!

Before i stated fitting the earthing kit i had to work out how i was going to to get to the positive battery terminal, i decided to go through the bottom of the fuse box, i drilled through it and then filed it to neaten it up.

Started fitting it, it was dead easy.

Now that everything was back together i turned her over, she started up first time she felt much quicker than my VW Caddy that i'd become so used to! Along with the earthing kit i also ordered and fitted some purple vacuum hoses, a polished fuse box cover, a billion rad cap and some purple tegiwa washers. Hopefully the bay will look a bit better in time for Japfest!

Next it was time to sort something out that i'd been wanting to do since the day i got the car, the ugly steering wheel. I ordered a suede nardi, which transformed the interior!

Also found this JDM air freshener? While cleaning under the rear seats.

Then i gave her a quick clean so that i could get some pictures of her with my mates r33 gtr as it was the last time i would be seeing it due to him swapping it for a s15 spec r

I also got rid of the red wheel nuts as the red cap actually fell off of one so it looked like i had just put a random silver one with the other 4.

That's pretty much as far as i've got at the moment, but now i've caught up to where i am i'll try and keep this up to date!

When I was looking through the pictures on the first page I noticed your oil filter sitting low, has it actually been re-located to that position? That seems like a really weird place to put the filter. The outer casing is really soft ali, so the smallest knock could rupture it, the car doesn't look particularly low so it may not be a problem.

As above mate car is coming along nicely,but I agree with adam that filter seems very low maybe worth moving it if you intend to go lower at some point. Very nice though! Do like a blue spec r

I used jperformance once for a rad but it was such poor quality took over a month to sort out a refund and still now haven't received all my money but I gave up a long tme ago on that ,steer well clear!!!
