Hello!

Im new to the life of the s15! as i recently just purchased her.

Going to get some new alloys but not 100% sure what i should get or what i need to fit them.

Im looking to get a set of Rota Torque's but not sure weither to get 17's or 18's??
Whats it like fitting alloys to a S15 and what sizes are best?

Is it easy to get a set that will slip straight on or do they genraly need adpating with spacers or anything?

Cheers!

If you're buying new there's no need for spacers or anything, getting the right offset is the key

This should give you an idea, I've ran a couple of sets of 17's on mine with different widths & offsets but never any 18's....

You saying you had rota torques on it befor? what offsets did you use? also what tyre's did you have on? Still got standard susspension on mine obviously looking at the list says offsets but whats the ideal offset?

My general guide would be if you don't want anything to rub or stick out too much when putting on 17" rims for the S15 (standard arches - lowered on coilovers so slight gap just above arches):

MAX = 17 x 8.5 ET30

Don't go any wide on the width of the rims and don't go any lower on the offset although rears stick in slightly more so you can technically use spacers or get slightly lower offsets than +30 but nothing silly like +14.

Basically I've got 17 x 9.5 ET30 and the fronts need 10mm spacers (so it's +20) and the rears are slightly too far in but I also have +25mm front wider arches and +50mm rear wider arches so that helps with 9.5J lol :)

The 'ideal' offset is a bit subjective.
Depending on if you want a bit off poke with mega stretch, or you like the wheel and tyre to fit inside your arch, depending on if you want to slam it and whether your going to roll the arches.

Offset also changes when you change the width of the wheel, what size width torques do you intend on buying and then it would be possible to advice on offset?

I'm running 17x8 et30 fronts and 17x9 et36 rears Nismo LMGT2's. Standard arches. If you really wanted a hella flush look you could space them out 5mm front and rear, but my rears rubbed on the arch when it was slammed on coilovers because my rear arches werent rolled.

No I haven't had Rota's on it but brand shouldn't matter unless you're hoping to clear big calipers! I have had three sets on it;

1.Nismo GT4's; 17x7.5 ET30 fronts with 215/45R17's & 17x8.5 ET40 rears with 235/45R17's - no rubbing issues
2.Work Emotion CR Kai's; 17x8 ET32 fronts with 225/45R17's & 17x9 ET30 rears with 225/45R17's - very close to the suspension strut at the front so I've bought 3mm spacers for them but no issues at the rear; I will be getting the same tyre profiles as per the Nismo's above and refitting them next weekend
3.Work Emotion CR Kai's; 17x9 ET17 with 225/45R17's front and rear - stripped the arch liner off at the front - looked fantastic though :D

If you want any pics let me know, the car has standard arches all round...

One's im looking at on the ebay are either 18 x 9.5 or 8.5 and also the same with a set of 17'' (9.5, 8.5) probably prefer a set of 18,s.

What does it cost to get arches rolled and what exactly happens when the do it lol, bit of a novice as all my last cars i had alloys that just slipped straight on them except for my typr r which i had to fit 20mm spacers!

I don't think 18's suit the car, but then again I've seen a few S15's I like on 18's & even 19's....

Set 1; 17x7.5 ET30 fronts on 215/45R17's & 17x8.5 ET40 rears on 235/45R17's - arguably weak on the width / offset front but stunning wheels and I've not come across anything as light as them :D

Set 2; 17x8 ET32 fronts & 17x9 ET30 rears both on 225/45R17's - Should look better at the front with the spacer and don't worry they're now bronze again

Set 3; 17x9 ET17 with 225/45R17's hmmmm (only borrowed these, want them back

Right iv decided now to go for some brand new 18" ROTA GRID Drift's.

All my suspension/ shocks are standard but i will be looking to get some better ones in the near future plus lowering it as much as the 18's will permit.
With that in mind what is the best size/ offset i should go for considering this?

So do i need a diffrant ET for front and back and should i go for 8, 8.5 or 9.5 j or again diffrant for front and back?

18" rota grid drifts......
what like these???

these are 18x9.5 rear et30 with an arch roll on 255/35, 18x8.5 front et35 with a 5mm spacer (so effectively et30) on 225/40

little bit of camber at the rear to tuck them in. as you can see, they dont stick out much at all and the tyres arent stretched to get away with it. if you go for another colour you can get the rears in an et35 or maybe even an et40. thats what i'd of got if the option was there, you can always add a spacer later :)

Yea they look sweet! Im going to get a set of white ones brand new so ill get the offsets straight from the shop so whats best 35 or 40?. Are you running standard or aftermarket shocks? as im currently on standards but want get them upgraded soon. How much does it cost to get the arches rolled?

Im looking for the same stance that you have on your s15 it looks good.

i'm using tein flex coilover system but there is lots of room at the back and a bit of room at the front - most coilovers will give similar clearances. go with the 35's up front and you can space them if they touch the coilover, if you choose 35's or 40's at the rear they should fit without touching anything and shouldnt make contact with the arch at all, then later if you want to push them out stick a spacer in to your liking. the only preference of the 40's over the 35's is that you will have a 5mm more to get it how you want it to look. arch rolling is normally done by www.archenemy.co.uk and he comes to you and does them for less than 100 quid start to finish.

Just spokje to a guy at ROTA who owns a S15 and he has told me to go for this

Front: 18x8.5 ET30 (225/40/18)
Rear: 18x9.5 ET38 (235/40/18)

Said if i get the right coilover i can clear them and if i want to make them pretrude more or clear the coilover i will only need 5-10mm spacers and jobs a goodun...

I run my WORK CR Kais as...

18x8.5 ET32 (using +5mm spacer) 225/40/18
18x9.5 ET38 255/35/18

On Apex coilovers, clearance is slim at fronts between struts but rears are fine without need of too much camber. Arches are rolled.

that sounds like a good fitment but not sure how the rear tyre will look......if it was me i'd have the 255/35. it will still fit fine and look similar to the 225 up front.
