Shift Knob

Just ordered one of these GT500 shift knobs:

Anyone know how to remove the original shift knob from the gear lever?

Unclip the leather gaiter and unscrew. It might be thread-locked on.

Do you mean unclip the leather gaitor where it attached at the top of the gear level (there is a silver cone shaped surround) or do you mean unclip the gaitor where it meets the rest of the trim at the bottom?

there should be a button at the top. just undo it to allow the gear knob to be removed and unscrew the gearknob

Here is my home made version. I have all the dimensions of the original "stuff"....took me a while to do including the engineering drawings. If anyone wants them PM me.
This enabled me to keep the stock shift boot.
