what exactly are the diffrences between the s15 sr20det vvt and s14 sr20det vvt?

i only know that the s15 coilpacks are thinner

basiclly my s15 has got a little oil leak from head gasket
but i was just going to replace the hg and buy a blown s14 sr20 and build that engine up while i can drive the s15 about?

from what i can see on the outside there identical but do they have any special holes for diffrent sencors or such

or is the block identical its just the s15 loom and some plugs are diffrent?

i think the heads are the same mate (apart from obvious as you say differences between rocker cover plug holes), the difference on the block is the oil filter carrier on the s15 thats also about it. main differences all round are the lack of egr on inlet and exhaust, couple of differences in connections and a few extra sensors such as boost map sensor, solenoid for carbon cannister etc. actual engine is very much the same as a s14a black top vvt lump afaik.

The head will bolt onto either but the s15 head is a better flowing unit believe it or not.
