My g/f was driving home the other night and had an argument with a lamp post, car is fooked. Anyone know of a cheap shell? It would be a shame to break my pride and joy but i'm not happy to repair it. All my engine work was only done 3 months ago by jez(h-dev) and i spent a fortune.

Thats not that hard to fix,for what its going to cost you to find a shell(undamaged) pull all your parts off and reinstall everything,it will probably cost you more then having a good panel shop pull out the sills, floorpan and put on a new door.Is the chasis rail still staight?

Anything can pretty much be straightened or fixed these days. The jigs they use are pretty good. It's just the fact that you know it's been repaired.

It's like meddler says - it's the fact i know it has been repaired if i was to jig it. Also if you look closely the roof has buckled up at the front and creased front and rear, screen is cracked, inner and outer sills, floor pan, door and a-pillar are all knackered. I wouldn't want to drive a repaired shell running 360bhp:no: anyway, imagine hitting the same side again - it'd fold like plasticine.

Thanks craig -the missis is fine - bit shaken up initially but ok. I was in the passenger at the time so she wasn't on her own.

Thanks for all the comments guys - tryin to motivate myself not to break it and this is helping!!!

if i was you and you definatly dont want to go down the kig route,
them first of id price the car up into parts and prices that will sell (including jigging the shell as it would be worth alot more to a buyer)
then buying another straight from japan as the s15's seem to be geting high speced for reasonable money
or
cheap hi kpm spec s- which does seem the more expencive route to me

dont let reshelling it put you off buddy- if you break a suspencion arm most people upgrade it. so onwards and upwards

That's a sad sight mate, glad all involved are unharmed.
Best of luck with what ever route you take with the car.

That's exactlt what I did to my s14a and only at 25 mph!! The insurance inspector wrote it of as a Class A write off. The chassis has to be scrapped, but you can keep all the parts.

I bought it for £5,500, got £4,200 off the insurance company a and bought the whole car off the insurers for £275 :):). Buy a shell for cheap and you could be ok. If you do get a shell, have it prepped at surfaceprocessings.co.uk first. That's where mine is going soon :)

Good luck mate.

Sliding-r, i'm still waiting on the insurance(admiral btw) to make me an offer, they're dragging their feet as much as possible, saying they have to use a specialist valuers etc. etc.
I have seen a few nice 99 auto n/a 15's for about two and a half grand inc. shipping but not import tax(anyone know how to work out what you have to pay for duty and import tax?) and also have thought about goin nuts and puttin the engine and box in something completely different like bmw e36/46 or z4 convertible/newish mx-5. Not sure yet though - gonna have to wait till i get my offer off the insurance to make a decision.
