hey guys ive been tracking for a while now only running on tein flex's and they started to leak just recently.
Ive been looking into the hole cheap coil over set up and have read lots of good things about the following kit http://www.meganracing.com/product_detail.asp?prodid=44&catid=32

megan racing is a us company and the exchange rate being so good in aus is making me look towards there gear. ive already got all there camber arms and links and have been using there exhaust manifold for 8 months, the gear is cheap and looks really dam good performs well with everything i have so far.

let me know what you guys think

900 dollars for a set of coil overs im sure someone has found something bad but i cant seem to find anything

IMHO go with KTS, Powered by MAX, Driftworks or any other recognized brand (HKS, TEIN, JIC, etc.). One of my friends has a set of Megan and their valving sucks, he had a hard time doing suspension tunning and they are pretty crappy for every day driving, I've driven his car (jdm s14a) a couple of times and i can say is very uncomfortable (and i'm a guy that is using TEIN super drift on a daily driver), just my 02 cents tho.

I wish someone wrote back sooner as i just got them in the shop today lol, id been doing research on them for months but couldnt find anything bad on them, all the wrx boys in the usa dig them, oh well ill try them and see how they go i guess. To be honest ive brought one of there turbo manifolds and its by far the the best ive seen really good welds and 3mm walls of stainless and looks like a really good grade also. Ill get these coilovers in maybe this weekend and ill write a mini review on them fingers crossed they work out ok.

yeah not a worry wont be for a bit just managed to get my kit fitted and car sprayed so prob be three weeks before i get them in now, just as a note the quality of them is really impressive the damper control knob is lockable, so if your like me and your mates like to turn and touch everything under your bonnet its handy! full length dust boot all the jaz really

since you are in Aus..why not trying out BC gold coilovers?
we in NZ love these coilovers as they are bargain in price and damn good for street and track.

yeah mate if you look through the american forums all the guys rate the megan over the bc coil overs by a fair bit and since it was cheaper i went for the option, i know they will be stiff as but gt 500 cars run 24 kg springs which will be alot stiffer than these megans by heaps! like i said once i get them on ill let everyone know how they go so that maybe someone else in the same postion could get the same thing for less

oh yep. Fair enough. because we are in a pretty small market for coilovers..therefore we never heard of Megan coilover before. by far..we do have HKS, Cusco, Tein, BC,D2 etc...and now i start to see people bring in HSD coilovers as well as Neotech..but i never tried them out or heard people comment on these just yet...

yeah i never new of them untill i found a manifold on ebay and then looked into there gear. ive got some neo tech caster rods and they look porn! quality is really good and ive seen there coil overs before also they are built like a tank in the camber tops they use 6 bolts instead of 4 and all the welds are spot on. Im pritty sure they designed the suspention for the hyundai genisis which handels awsome id so buy one if they come to Aus as im guessing no one else will be making a 4 cylinder turbo ever again

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know ive got my megans in and that they kick the **** out of my 20,000 km old tein super streets. Ride quality is really good for the spring the spring rates (12 & 10), id near say its better than how the teins used to feel for confort. Corner speeds have improved alot considering how little the car rolls now. But all and all thumbs up! Only install issue i had was that i had to drill a hole to mount the abs lead down abit but im running k sport brakes and i didnt want any touching of the lines. If any ones got any questions feel free to ask

Hey man,

Thanks for the follow up. I still havent gone ahead & replaced mine yet.. but good to hear the megans aren't like driving on bricks.

Also, if anybody has any experience with a new australian release (new ish) Pedders over here has a set for the s15 now. They're a very well reputed suspension company in Oz with high build qualities so far. Would love to hear how they ride also, as price range is similar to the Megan's.

I have a megan down elbow, dump pipe, manifold, on its way, will let you all know how they are. from all reports the build quality is far better than most lower cost bolt ons.

12 kg springs front, 10kg springs rear. Also i just want to make a note that the coil overs arnt noisey in any way, i read a few issues on some other forums about some noise beeing made after install but ive had nothing just as quiet as the teins i had before, i think this noise is from faulty set up of the springs but i set mine up with no load n then adjusted on the car. For the pedders coil overs id stay clear, not that they are bad but from my experiance you wont get good performance out of them. Build quality would be good and ride comfort would also be good but pedders never really win any races or comps with there gear or products. Any one serious in aus doesnt use them in the jap scene from my knowledge

Are 12/10's not overly hard for the street? I used to have 8/6 and thought they were a touch too firm for our roads over here. I'm changing to 7/5's as soon as my car is back in 1 peice.

I remember watching a Best Motoring video (I think) where the Kei Office S15 had 12/12 but handled really well on the touge..

damn 12/10 sounds way to stiff.

howeever harshness is genearlly (from my experience) to do with the valveing in the shock absorbers.

i had a pair of JIC's in the front of my corolla, and even with 6kg springs they were VERY harsh. swapped them out for a pair of kyb AGX's with 8kg/mm springs. And the comfort difference was amazing.

12 and 10 doesnt feel harsh at all, the roads where i live are rough too. I did spend some time playing with the dampers to get it feeling right. When i used hit bumps with the tein super streets it would all be a big bang and shake through the car but now its alot less harsh with the megans. End of the day im really happy with these coil overs and i would recommend them to any one doing weekend tracks and looking into the cheaper coil over market, seriusly a grand delivered its cheap and they work better than a 2 grand set. Ill let everyone know how the go in the long term but from the american forums guys have been using them for years with out issues and regular track days
