Welcome Michael

As we are a global forum, you are going to need to let us know which country you are in before we can recommend something. :)

Absolutely not. That would be misrepresenting the car. If an insurer doesn't list the 'Nissan Silvia Spec R' or 'Nissan Silvia R Turbo', they probably won't insure. As a guide, you won't get cover without speaking to someone on the phone. :)

Hey mate, the best quote i got for an s15 spec R is ?2500 being as im only 22 :p
And that as the best! It was with www.elephant.co.uk the other insurers wouldnt even touch me,
another reason my quote was high is i have a "few" points, and also i have a run of bad luck involving women drivers

I wouldn't go anywhere near Elephant if you plan to do any mods. They'll drop you before you can even arrange alternative cover. They've done it to people on SXOC... I also had a very bad deal off them a few years ago when my Rover Coupe was written off.

I'd really try to get an agreed value.

I think I'd be inclined to get something a bit more sensible rather than pay ?2500 for insurance....

Most S14 tuning stuff with fit the S15. The main soruces are most of the traders on SXOC. Getting stuff from Perfectrun, Japanparts, Greenline, etc will save you considerable amounts of money. However, you've got to run the risk of getting hit by import duty. Take a look at my two threads about Jap parts suppliers in the Trade section. :)

Sensible, ive had summut sensible for the last few years and i want summut i can enjoy, its only money at the end of the day, and better puttin a smile on my face than sittin in the bank.
And that quote i got was with alloys, bodykit and exhaust mods too!
And when im paying ?1000 on a poxy 1.2 clio now ,it doesnt seem so bad to me.
Elephant have been pretty good with me through 2 crashes so i cant agree with you there nicely.

Ah. But they were cars that you can easily get list prices and parts for and were probably just body repairs? Try to argue the value of an S15 or a car with special valuation circumstances (as the Rover had) when its sat in a salvage company's yard written off...

I didn't say Elephant wouldn't cover ANY mods. I'd just check with then EVERY time BEFORE you do a planned mod to make sure they'll still cover you. If you do the mod and they won't accept it, they'll just cancel.

TBH, I wouldn't consider any of the mainstream insurance companies. They are more interested in straightforward cars and give high premiums if they would prefer not to have your business. Specialist companies are there to give the best prices on more unusual cars, such as imports and modified cars.
