have a hole in my dash and im not sure what's meant to be there?

As above, i have a hole in my dash...its rectangular, just to the left of the steering wheel and looks like it possibly housed a switch of some sort? I'v had a quick nosey on google and have found various gizzmos fitted where this hole is but cannot see what was there as standard....anyone know what im talking about?

Yea it's just a coin pocket. Should be/was lined with a sort of felt material on the base
