Boost leak + compressor surge

Today, i was driving at pretty fast speeds and suddenly i hear the bov open during throttle. Afterwards i cant seem to hit boost. Ive had intercooler pipes loosen before, so i immediately checked the piping but seems to be on tight.

Additionally, i am getting compressor surge even without boost (according to my defi boost gauge).

Im am trying to diagnose this problem, but cant seem to figure it out.

Do you guys have any advice?

Have you checked the vacuum piping from the intake manifold to the bov and guage sensor. Could be a split in the piping.

a synapse bov (from the US).

I figured out the problem though... the inline air filter on the vacuum line to the bov split open, thus the boost leak (and resulting compressor surge sound)
