Aftermarket ECU for an Auto

Guys,

I have a mate that has an S15 with an auto transmission (yes I know it's an auto, but there is a good reason for it). At the moment it is pretty standard with just an exhaust. What he wants to know is what aftermarket ECU will he be able to use with the auto box. Supposedly there is an interface between the ECU and the auto. Even if he has to use a daughterboard he would be happy, as long as he can remap the car to suit all the new goodies he wants to buy. He is planning to fit cams, bigger injectors and a larger turbo (which he hasn't decided on yet).
He is in Australia, but even if he can talk to someone in the UK about it, it would be a start.

Anyone got any ideas?

wouldn't Nistune work as it keeps the stock ECU?
Don't know if it's compatible with auto though.

Compared to aftermarket ECUs, it's pretty cheap.
