I maybe tempted to make a purchase for the ps13 then haha. I had HSD mono pro on the s15 they were quite good, but the dual tech that are on the ps13 from when I bought it are ****e compared.

Yeah the hsd seem ok for the money but I have seen quite a few have issues after 12-16 months of use . Not heard any bad reviews on the meister as yet from people I know . One of my mates has run them on his s2k for going on 4 years now and still happy

Yeah the Meister R are pretty decent, I got all 4 for 700quid. Thought that was a decent price point too. Believe they are 8kg rears and 6kg fronts. Ride is stiff but not uncomfortable.

i looked at the MeisterR ZetaCRD+but thought 8/6 would be too firm for everyday use

The only input I can give is that I have the BC's and they feel way too hard on even the softest damper settings. I don't know if the pre-load on the spring has been altered on mine, as I didn't fit them, but I suspect they're how they came out of the box.
hey again Rich :) been a while! how you doing mate? i do remember yours being somewhat firm on our drive; probably too firm for my liking as a daily. what spring rates you got?

I've spoke to Meister about the 8/6 spring rates and they assure me it will be better than the HSD at 7/5 as the damper is tuned a lot better for our poor roads.
But it does still make me unsure going higher in spring rate

interesting. how inclined are you to believe them? :D even with a well tuned damper the 8/6 is still going to be real stiff no? wont something softer be better for handling too?

Softer would be great for a daily driver for sure. Not so sure it will be for a more "aggressive" driving style (not that we drive this way at all of course.....) or track use.

I have my dampers turned up because my car for some reason likes to corner quite hard most of the time. If you could get a 7/5 it may be a good compromise I suppose for comfort.

That was my thoughts too, but after talking to them a well damped for the conditions stiffer spring should drive a lot nicer than the 7/5 setup.
I'm very tempted to buy and report back, then I will have owned both HSD models and meister's on s bodies lol.

another interesting point. i dont plan to track my car but i can see myself driving it pretty enthusiastically on the street. perhaps you are bang on re 7/5 in that case.

if you do get the meisters CMR then please do let me know ;)

forgive if this is a noobish question but i assume dampers would affect how you feel lumps and bumps more while the spring would have more bearing on body roll? its the firm bumps knackering my arse and back i dont want :D

haha, something like this so you can maintain stiffer coilover performance whilst maximising comfort, :whoo:

Hi mate, I'm doing well thanks, still on the lookout for an S15 then?

I'm afraid I have no idea on spring rates. All I know is that it's an 'ard ride

I should add, I enquired with Eibach about a set of springs to fit the BC's that were a little softer. It worked out around £80 a corner. I cannot recall if that was +VAT.

Nah, house first mate!

I hadn't got that far with them. They said they could do any spring rate I require so I was going to see what the BC's were and go from there.

hi again all,

been looking more at suspension and came across BC racing BR-series coilovers which have spring rates of 5/4, 6/5 and 8/6. these seem to be the only ones i can find that offer rates simiar to Tein super streets (6/4) which i am trying to avoid due to mixed reviews.

im still pretty keen on the HSD monotube at 7/5 and meisterR's at 8/6 but cant decide if this is still too stiff for pure road use.

im very conscious of wheels skipping etc on the roads if the suspenison is too firm. anyone had this issue on uk roads? if so what do you think the limit is in terms of spring rates?

cheers again!

I'm using BC Racing at the moment with 8/6 springs, it's firm but okay for driving on the road. It used to have Apex comfies which were far too soft seeing as I like to use mine on the track.

Re the Teins, I had superstreets for probably 6 years with no issues at all, I only changed to CS2's as I wanted something stiffer. My mates R34 has been running the same Monoflex kit for 10 years, still look like new, so from a Tein point of view I have no issue with them, just too tight to pay the price. The CS2's were okay, but had a habit of the locking rings coming undone.

If you want it to behave better on the road, get some roll centre correcting ball joints and anti-bupm steer rod ends :)

thanks for the reply dude :)

so if i went for a 7/5 HSD you couldn't see that being too firm and causing wheels to skip or lose traction over small road bumps etc?

also would you mind elaborating on roll centre correcting ball joints and anti-bump steer rod ends? im still learning with suspension bits :) (true i could google it but i have found that S15 owners explain it better anyway in a language i understand :p ) also were you suggesting these additions to a softer setup to provide best of both worlds?

cheers!

7/5 would be fine around here, I was happy with 9/7 tbf :) My cars fairly powerful so I tend to be wary of bumps etc anyway.

The roll centre ball joints and rod ends help when the car is lowered. The ball joints help keep the wheel geometry where it should be and the rod ends help to stop the steering pulling left and right as you go over bumps. It's all just to make it easier to drive.

cheers mate!

had a good browse of that site. lot of the "typical" parts i was looking at all found there which is handy.

I had a new set of HSD HR 7/5 (now monotube) sold them and bought a new set of Meister Zeta R 8/6 (now CRD+) and personally think they both ruined my car on road, both ****e in my opinion, damping way too stiff. Skipping wasn't a real issue, just the constant irritation of the chassis following and transmitting road imperfections and bumps rather than at least reasonably absorbing them.
Meister didn't advertise Zeta S (now CRD) for S chassis at the time but they are meant to be more road orientated.

Then had a new set of AST Sportline 5/4 , they were just ok. Still irritating at <30mph, good on road above that, sprung a bit soft for grip track but easier to tolerate too soft on track than too hard on road.

Now I have a used set of Tein Street flex, 6/5 I believe. Ride was decent with stock 16's but with 18's feel too stiff at low speeds and too soft at high speeds. So far only used on road.

STunes felt nicely damped but never driven hard (not my car) and would sit mega high on 18's.

I love my car but still am not satisfied with the suspension setup, so this year I'm looking at some form of roll centre correction and something along the lines of Ohlins R&T, KW V3 or possibly speak to Meister for custom GT1 setup.

Bear in mind this is just my opinion, I guess 2 things
1: My expectations of entry level suspension was too high
2: My tolerance to a poor ride quality and chassis control is low.

They were all setup up properly.
